Treading Waters - The Wetness Indicator and its Significance.

One of the hardest challenges for parents is dealing with the almost constant pee-poop things babies have going on. The diaper is full in the span of very little time. Keeping track in such situations becomes difficult. Moreover, a dirty diaper can cause health problems to the baby as well- for example, babies can get diaper rash from wearing a wet diaper for too long, poop left in the diaper can irritate the baby’s skin and the bacteria in a full diaper can cause bladder infections (especially in baby girls). The list can go on.

In order to make sure babies don’t go through such extremities from a dirty, full diaper, the concept of the Wetness Indicator was developed in 1978.

 The job of a Wetness Indicator in baby diapers is to let the caregiver know that the diaper is near full and needs to be changed on priority.

Through the years, the way a Wetness Indicator might work has changed. From designs that vanish when the diaper is full to a yellow line that turns blue after reaction to baby’s fluids, we have come a long way. The innovation and technological development in the field of baby care has been vast and mind blowing.

Understanding a baby’s plight and the parents’ need, Niine worked religiously to simplify the lives of our consumers. After multiple tried and tested efforts, we came through with our version of the Wetness Indicator- a yellow line that stretches from the front to the back of the diaper which turns blue when the diaper is fully wet and needs to be changed.
